Choose a Bookstore: Kobo
This is the second post in my series exploring the different bookstores where you can buy The Ideal Countess (or really any book!)
According to a report from the Romance Writers of America, 64% of romance fans read ebooks. That’s a huge number! That’s why today, I want to focus on my favorite place to buy ebooks.

Why I Recommend This Bookstore:
Kobo is one of the three major ebook retailers (the others being Amazon and Barnes & Noble). As an ereader since about 2010, I’ve tried all three. Kobo is my favorite for a couple of reasons.
1. It’s comprehensive
Unless an author has published exclusively with Amazon, you can find just about every book you want on Kobo. This isn’t necessarily unique to Kobo, but it is definitely important!
2. The ereader is much easier to sync with library books
Ok, this is less about the bookstore and more about the ereader/mobile app, but that’s important when considering ebook buying.
I like my Kobo ereader a lot more than I liked my Nook or Kindle. For one thing, Kindle locks you down so you can only add .mobi files, which means some ebooks just can’t be opened. For example, a lot of library books are only available as an Overdrive download, which never worked to get onto my Kindle.
Nook in theory is more flexible, but I almost always had issues getting the ebooks I actually wanted onto my device. Since it didn’t sync directly to my library, I had to download the ebook file to my computer and then transfer it via USB - every time I got a new book. Half the time, there was an error.
Kobo, on the other hand, opens any ebook, and it also syncs directly with your library so you can borrow books directly from your device. You can also shop the bookstore from the device. Plus, my version is waterproof!
3. It has a rewards program!
Every ebook you buy from Kobo gets you points, and you can sign up for the VIP program to get a 10% discount on select books, plus earn even more points. Those points add up to free books, which is always a win!
Drawbacks to This Bookstore
Kobo only sells ebooks and audiobooks, so you have to look elsewhere to get physical copies of books. (Check out my previous post on Kew & Willow if you need a recommendation for physical bookstores!)
