My Policy on Using Generative AI (2025)
As generative artificial intelligence technology continues to evolve, I wanted to put my business’s policy in writing for your reference.
I stand with creators in resisting generative AI as well as with individuals who want to make ethical choices about what they consume.
However, there are a few tools in my technology stack that are slowly adding in AI so that I must be vigilant to avoid it, and there are also some AI tools that I use to replace tedious copywriting and podcast editing tasks, allowing me more time to be creative.
My books are written, edited, and produced without the use of generative artificial intelligence. My book covers are designed by amazing, human artists who do not use generative artificial intelligence. Any marketing graphics that I make are usually produced in Canva, and to the best of my understanding of the product, I choose options that do not use its Magic Design AI to create the graphics. Occasionally, I do use generative AI copywriting tools to brainstorm book descriptions and taglines.
My podcast is produced with the assistance of Descript’s “Underlord” artificial intelligence bot. I use the AI tool to create the transcripts, to remove filler words in bulk edits, to occasionally improve the sound quality of a recording, and to generate first drafts of YouTube video descriptions (including time stamps). I do not use AI to generate, replicate, or manipulate any humans voices or images.
My policy will continue to evolve as the technology advances, societal norms change, and (hopefully) regulation provides guidance. If you would like to discuss my policy with me, please reach out via the Contact Me page.
